FAMOUS Basket Weaver

Kumeyaay Kumiai elder basket weaver CELIA SILVA posed for pictures in May, 2005, outside of her home beside the little church in San Jose de la Zorra, Baja California, Mexico. Celia Silva weaves traditional coiled juncus baskets, twined baskets, Native American Indian arts and crafts, including cloth dolls, clay dolls, and juncus brushes.


Celia Silva is also featured in the Kumeyaay modern basket museum.
