GALVAN FAMILY HONORING Sycuan Powwow

The Galvan family honoring procession — in honor of Veronica Ortiz, Navajo-Ute, the Head Northern
Woman Dancer (first woman on the right beside Richard Galvan, Piute-Yaqui, Co-Arena
Director) — encircles the Sycuan pow-wow arena as friends greet the family in the front of the line
and move to the back of the line as powwow drums and singers play in the background.

It is pow-wow protocal for head staff or a lead family member to 'hold out a hat' for monetary contributions
for the Native American drum group who performs the ceremony special honoring songs.
