INDIGENOUS VILLAGE

EL MAYOR, a small Indigenous village in the Colorado River Delta area of Baja California, Mexico, is pictured in November 2004.

The 2004 photograph documents a makeshift Indian home in the El Mayor tribal community, a Colorado River tribe. By the United States' standards, some of the Cocopah Indian housing in El Mayor would be considered living in shacks.

This Cocopah video photograph was originally produced for a Kalim Smith UCSD multimedia video DVD movie documentary, Right of Passage, A Nation Divided.
