OLD TOWN SANDIEGO FIESTA 2005

Kumeyaay elder Jane Dumas and her daughter, Daleane "Dee" Dumas-Adams, hosted their 4th ANNUAL FIESTA in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park through their California Indian store and gift shop, SHUMUP KO HUP.

One of the last fluent Kumeyaay speakers in the United States, JANE DUMAS, Kumeyaay of Jamul Indian Village, is recorded here addressing the fiesta crowd in her Native Kumeyaay language -- San Diego's original language -- and then translating her Kumeyaay words into the English language.

This web site uses Apple's free QUICKTIME to play audio and video files.

The Dumas family historical photographs are avalable in their online Native American family historical SCRAPBOOK.

In attendance at the fiesta was a virtual who's who of Native American California Indian artists, storytellers, basket makers, pottery artists, Indian museums, Indigenous bird singers and bird dancers.
